I want some space in the garage for my car

by Monica

Ever since we moved into this house, my husband has taken up all of the space in our two car garage with his tools and equipment. When we first bought this house I really thought that the existing shed out in the back yard would be large enough for his precious things, but it wasn’t very long before I realized that even adding on to that shed was not going to provide the actual work space that he was hoping to have. He wants a place to be able to use his welding equipment and automotive tools, not just a place to store it.

How old is too old?

by Monica

I was reading an article on a webpage calling itself celebrity gossip about a 28 year old lady who is a mother of several children has been banned from all of the town’s nightclubs because the doormen claim that she is too old to wear the skimpy outfits that flaunts her body. She is upset because there are girls who are in their early 20s that wear skimpier clothing than she does but that they are allowed in. When I was reading the article, I had to wonder what the big deal really is, after all an age difference of less than ten years really should not make that big of a difference.

However, when looking at the photographs of the woman in question, my own opinion is that if she made a bigger effort in making her hair and her make-up more attractive, then the doormen might not be refusing her entrance into the nightclubs. But then again, the article indicates that she has recently split up with her husband, and maybe the nightclub owners are friends with the hubby and don’t want her hanging around with the thought that there might be some public displays of domestic violence if they let her in.

Got them done and sent off

by Monica

Well, once again I have bailed out my procrastinating sister – got her taxes done and filed them electronically. She should be getting her refund automatically deposited in her checking account in a couple of weeks. She always ends up getting a refund, so I really don’t understand why she always waits until the last minute to file – when I think I’m going to get a refund I file as soon as I possibly can! Waiting until the last minute might make getting a refund even slower because there are so many people filing their taxes at the last minute. Don’t you agree?

One more day

by Monica

My sister called me up today, frantic because she had just realized that today is April 15, and that her taxes have not been done yet! She had been meaning to bring all of her records over to my place so I could do her taxes for her, but she kept putting it off. She has always been struggling with procrastination, and she is just plain lucky that she really doesn’t need to mail out her taxes until tomorrow because the 15th is on Sunday this year.

So I told her to come on over and I’d help her out and use my tax preparation software to take care of her taxes for her. Using that software we can probably go ahead and file her taxes electronically and she’ll be good to go. Good thing for my “grasshopper” type family that I’m the “ant” type and get things done ahead of time!

Dog Whisperer Show

by Monica

Flipping through the cable channels last night, I came across a show about a dog whisperer. Evidently this guy is very famous, but I had no idea he had a TV show and have never watched it before. He talks about dogs who have behavior problems and how to correct their bad behavior. Interestingly, a lot of the time it was the owners doing the wrong things and that was being reflected back by the dog’s acting badly.

After I watched the show, I realized that the same principle is true of bad parents raising children. What a shame it is so much easier to recognize and change the dog owner methods than bad parenting. And the parenting has a life long effect on their children and everyone around them.
