Registration for their 58th Season is Underway!

Campers have begun registering for Hummingbird Music Camp‘s 58th Season! Camp officially opens this year on Sunday, May 28, 2017.

This year there will be a choice from 9 weeks of Music Camp, 6 weeks of Art Camp or 1 week of Chess Camp. The full schedule of camp weeks is listed on their newly redesigned website,

One aspect of this camp that I especially like is that all of the counselors are kids who have been attending Hummingbird Music Camp as campers until they aged out. The camp accepts children ages 8 through 14, and after that, kids may apply to be staffers, counselors in training, and eventually, full counselors.

Campers sleep in bunk beds in rustic dorms, and every day is packed with music lessons, art lessons or chess lessons, PLUS a lot of traditional summer camp activities, like hikes in the beautiful Jemez Mountains, fishing and swimming, and fun games. A great testament to how much the kids enjoy camp is that many return, year after year, and that some campers are now the third generation of campers from families of the original campers!
