I was reading an article on Time.com about how the two satellite radio companies are attempting a merger. The article was talking about how the FCC is leaning towards approving the merger. If the merger is approved then the satellite radio business will become a monopoly. I thought monopolies were not allowed; isn’t that why the Bell System was broken up in the 1980s?
I went grocery shopping yesterday and decided to buy a couple of new dog toys for our dogs. They have squeakers in them, but are largish in size; they remind me of the stuffed animal toys I had as a kid. Anyway, I had heard that dogs can see a few colors; they gravitate towards blue, so I bought two blue teddy bear squeaky toys. When I got home with the groceries and had put all the food away, I gave the toys to the dogs. What fun they have had playing with the toys! Our big dog has pretty effectively ripped most of the stuffing out of one already in her desperate attempt to kill the squeaky part. What a mess! Now I wish I hadn’t bothered to vacuum yesterday! I’m going to have to vacuum again tomorrow!
My youngest son is staying in Philadelphia this summer, doing a college internship job. My oldest son has never been to Philadelphia and expressed an interest in living there someday. So last weekend I sent him off to spend the weekend with my youngest. He took the train to Philly, which worked out wonderfully well. If I ever send him up there again I will definitely send him by train! He went up Friday afternoon and came home Monday afternoon. They saw some sights, ate some good food and watched a few movies. They both said they had a good time, and I was glad to have them spend some time alone together.
I can’t believe it took twelve years for new DNA evidence to finally clear Jon Benet’s family in her murder! I heard that it was a “new” type of DNA test that did it, so I guess I’m glad that they developed the new test. I’m feel badly that they didn’t come up with this evidence before Patsy died. It’s such a shame that the court of public opinion kept them as suspects all this long time.
I’m glad they have cleared the family; now I hope they find the “real killer.”
The economy worries me more than I’d like to admit. According to the news programs that I watch and the Internet news sites that I read, the ever increasing gasoline prices, the increasing food prices, the floods in Iowa are going to result in HIGHER food prices, the price of milk will be going up to $6.00 gallon soon and the higher unemployment rates all spell bad times ahead. We’re already in bad times; I hate to think of them getting much worse. I hope that when the Presidential election is over and done with the economy will recover.
